About laurel

Bay laurel — Laurus nobilis — is the Mediterranean evergreen whose leaves go into a slow-cooked stew, and whose branches were woven into wreaths in Greece and Rome. The oil is distilled from the leaves, and it smells the way the leaf does when you crush a fresh one: green, faintly spiced, with a cool lift that the dried kitchen version has long since lost.

Electric diffuser or humidifier — five to ten drops in the water.

Diffuser stand — three to five drops straight onto the stones or crystals in a container such as a concrete bowl or coconut shell, topped up when the scent fades.

Luffa, or a cotton pad — a drop or two, tucked into a drawer, a wardrobe or the car.
